In December 2007, Fast Company published an article showing that the odds against people making changes in their thinking and action are 9 to 1—even in the face of death! That means, on average, people choose to fail nine times until they decide to do it differently!  Ouch! 

The title of the article was Change or Die (Fast Company, 12/17/07).  And given the implosion we have seen in many industries and the economy, we have already seen the latter half of the title made manifest.  So, the former option to change still exists for those who will choose it.
